Temporary Visa Procedures from 1st February to 15th May 2007

  1. From 1st February 2007 to 15th May 2007 Jamaica, together with nine other Caribbean countries, will suspend its normal visa system and allow entry only on the basis of a CARICOM Special Visa. This arrangement will be in effect temporarily in order to facilitate the hosting of the Cricket World Cup 2007.
  2. This system will be in effect in the nine (9) countries hosting World Cup events and the island of Dominica. The nine(9) venue States are: -
    -Antigua and Barbuda
    - Barbados
    - Grenada
    - Guyana
    - Jamaica
    - St.Kitts and Nevis
    - St.Lucia
    - St.Vincent and the Grenadines
    - Trinidad and Tobago
    The CARICOM Special Visa will enable its holder freedom to travel to all the countries listed,without the need for any additional visa.
  3. All persons wishing to enter Jamaica from any country not listed as an exempt country must apply for and secure a CARICOM Special Visa. The Exempt countries are: -
    CARICOM Member States and Associate Member States (Except Haiti)
    Canada
    France and its Overseas Countries and Territories
    Germany
    Ireland
    Italy
    Japan
    The Netherlands and its Overseas Countries and Territories
    United Kingdom and its Dependent Territories
    South Africa
    Spain
    United States of America and its Dependent Territories
    If you are a national of a country not listed here you MUST secure a CARICOM Special Visa to enter Jamaica.
  4. To apply for a visa you may secure the visa application form by logging on and downloading the form from (www.CARICOMIMPACS.ORG). The Embassy of Jamaica in Beijing has been designated as a “Remote Site” and will therefore be able to receive applications for the CARICOM Special Visa. You must comply with the instructions given and ensure that you submit all the documentation required.
  5. Persons seeking to obtain visas for entry to Jamaica for the purpose of employment or family visits or as individual tourist will continue to be interviewed as a part of the application process. Appointments for interviews may be arranged in the usual manner by contacting the Embassy of Jamaica in Beijing at:

  6. Persons wishing to travel to Jamaica for tourism purposes should have their application made on a group basis by Approved Outbound Operators in the usual manner.
  7. Cruise Ship Passengers
    Cruise Ship Passengers entering for less than 24 hours will be issued with a CARICOM Day Pass to enter and will not be required to apply for the CARICOM Special Visa.
  8. Persons traveling on Diplomatic, Official or Service passports should contact the Embassy of Jamaica, Beijing for information on the applicable Special Entry Permit.
  9. For the duration of the CARICOM Special Visa regime the fee to be charged by the issuing agency will be eight hundred RMB (800RMB), or One Hundred United States Dollars (US$100.00). The fee of one hundred RMB (100 RMB) is to be added for courier and handling costs for a total processing fee of nine hundred RMB (900.00 RMB). Payment must be made by cash or cashiers’ cheque. Once the period of the special CARICOM Special Visa regime has ended on May 15 the current visa procedures and fees will be restored.
  10. Exemption from Payment
    1. Children 12 years and under;
    2. Non Accredited Diplomats and persons traveling on Diplomatic or Official Passports;
    3. Teams, Officials, Media and sponsors and their spouse and children;
    4. Cuban Nationals; and
    5. Seamen and airline crew entering to join vessels or aircraft
  11. The anticipated processing time for the visas not including courier time is four (4)working days.
